Music and the Fibonacci series

LQ: What is the Fibonacci sequence

IWBAT:

  • Understand the sequence
  • Use the sequence in music
  • Compose the piece for at least 1 minute long using the sequence
  • Record your composition
  • A melody is expected
  • An added bass line (left hand is encouraged)
Blog questions:

What is the Fibonacci sequence:
It is a sequence that contains 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13 and so on which works by adding the 2 previous numbers to make the next one. It is said to be found all around nature for example a conch, our arms, etc.

How is it used in music:
What you can do is that you can take the numbers of the sequence and select a key, then find the notes corresponding to the numbers and play them.

Fibonacci piece composed

This is our piece which is in the key of C major and I feel my group and I did a pretty good job although it would be better if we would be able to add the bass line which unfortunately we were not able to do but otherwise I am pretty satisfied with our composition.

  1. This is good. Could you perhaps add more to your reflections? Keep up the good work!
